Journal Entry - Week 6

 

Part 1: Help Your Teammates to Develop Capstone Ideas

During our team meeting this week, we discussed some possible capstone ideas. Although we don’t know exactly what we plan to do, we have some ideas based on the capstone projects we reviewed. One idea that stood out to us was the machine learning project that helped assist physicians in diagnosing brain cancer using computer vision. This project was very interesting and used GPU data centers from Google to train the model. We like the idea since it has real world impacts and can help us learn machine learning in an applied manner.


Part 2: Keep Up With Your Learning Journal

This week, we learned about how to use Adobe express to create our video project. One of my teammates had experience in using the software so he taught us the basics to ensure we had the skills necessary to start our designated parts. I learned an overview of how LLMs work in this section as it is the topic selected for our final presentation project. I also learned how to develop a resume and cover letter to maximize my chances of getting a job and internship in software engineering.

  Part One: Set Your Education Goals My education goal that I envision myself achieving is to turn in all my assignments by Monday, midnight. This goal signifies a lot as it would mean that I would have a ‘day off’ essentially on Tuesday when all assignments are due for CST 300 and CST 349. Journal Entry - Week 2

After reading the document titled “Effective Study Skills”, I have deducted that I am good at (1) getting the main idea of a reading or module, (2) asking questions about the content rather than just accepting it as is, and (3) when studying, to periodically stop and recite what I’ve read thus far. I feel that I could improve on (1) having a schedule and plan for studying rather than just starting/ending based on personal sentiment, (2) reviewing notes immediately after a lecture, and (3) not studying for more than 30–40 minutes at a time. The presentations in part 3 taught me about how projects are professionally operated and managed. The introduction defined a project as a temporary endeavor with a unique output. It also talked about how the market, regulations, and other business aspects constitute triggers for launching projects.
